Risk factors are….

  • diabetes (causes the kidney to filter more blood)
  • high blood pressure
  • family history of kidney failure
  • anyone 60 or older
  • anyone who is obese

There are ways to prevent: •take meds as prescribed •exercise regularly •follow doctor recommended diet •lose weight •stop smoking •cut back on alcohol •cut back on salt •DO NOT overuse pain meds labeled as NSAIDS

Request an urine test or blood test checking for kidney failure from your doctor if you are at risk.
